Sudan poll like a vote under Hitler : ICC prosecutor - 24 March
The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court said on Tuesday that monitoring Sudan's election next month would be like monitoring a vote in Hitler's Germany. Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo pressed for the arrest warrant issued by the ICC a year ago against Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur region. Bashir is contesting the poll. Moreno-Campo spoke a day after Bashir threatened to expel international election monitors for saying that the vote may have to be delayed to deal with logistical problems. - polity website

Banned Briatore can return after 2010 - 13 April
Formula One's governing body agreed on Monday to end a life ban against former Renault team boss Flavio Briatore and allow him back into the sport after 2012. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said in a statement that a settlement had been reached to end ongoing legal proceedings against the flamboyant Italian multi-millionaire. - Eye Witness News website

Calls to raise age of criminal responsibility rejected - 13 March
Calls to raise the age of criminal responsibility from 10 to 12 have been rejected by the government. England's children's commissioner Maggie Atkinson had told the Times that most criminals under 12 did not fully understand their actions. But the Ministry of Justice said those over 10 knew the difference "between bad behaviour and serious wrongdoing". - BBC News website

Teesside mother not told of sex offender's past - 19 March
A Teesside mother was not warned a man living in her home, who later raped her five-year-old daughter, was a known sex offender, a critical review has found. Stockton Council has suspended a person and admitted a support worker visited the family, instead of a social worker. - BBC News website
